Konkani film 'savaariyaa.Com' & Goan film maker Rajendra Tilak

My film would have made it to the Panorama section: Talak

PANAJI, NOV 30, 2008 (PTI)

Goan film-maker Rajendra Talak, whose Konkani film 'savaariyaa.Com' will be premiered at the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2008 here today, is the lone Konkani producer who has managed to compete with filmmakers across the country.

"I am sure my film would have been selected for the Indian Panorama section but I did not send it," Talak told PTI.

Although three more films produced in Goa were screened at IFFI 2008, Talak's is the only Goan representation for Indian Premier section.

The film-maker feels that getting the film premiered in IFFI has a great value. "Wherever you take your film, you can proudly say that it was premiered in IFFI," Talak said.

Incidentally, this is his third film to be screened at IFFI in the past five years. 'Aleesha' was screened in 2004, and 'Antarnaad' in 2006.

"'Savaariyaa.Com' is the story on internet marriage set in the backdrop of Goa. The film has been shot in Goa and London," he said.

Priyanka Bidaye, a local Goan talent and upcoming Marathi actor Aniket Vishwasrao play the lead roles in the film.

The film has been shot twice, once in Konkani and another in Marathi, with the same lead actors, Talak said.

On Goan film industry, Talak says that the revolution has just started. "No one can make a film in one day, it will take years. Goa has rich talent in film making as the results show," he added.
